(Audacy) Desperate times call for desperate hairstyle changes.
After the Los Angeles Angels lost their 12th game in a row on June 6, then-manager Joe Maddon got a mohawk in an attempt to loosen it up during an obviously tense time for the team.
But the players never actually saw the 68-year-old Maddon's mohawk, because he was fired by the team just hours after getting the haircut, Tim Kurkjian of ESPN reported Sunday evening.
Former Padres slugger Phil Nevin -- who had been Maddon's third-base coach -- was named the interim manager. But while the Philadelphia Phillies won their first eight games under interim manager Rob Thomson before losing Sunday, the Angels have gone just 2-3 since firing Maddon.
