(Audacy) With Al Michaels departing to Amazon Prime, NBC had a decision to make on who would fill the Sunday Night Football broadcast booth for the 2022 NFL season.

On Tuesday, the broadcasting giant officially announced that Michaels will be replaced as the play-by-play broadcaster by Mike Tirico, who will be partnering with longtime color analyst Cris Collinsworth. Melissa Stark will replace Michelle Tafoya on the sidelines.

Tirico replaces the legendary Michaels, who had been a network staple for 17 years. Even though it will be a tough task, Tirico has the similar experience of having covered pretty much every major sporting event there is to cover.

As for Collinsworth, he'll remain with the network for his 14th season despite his longtime partner jumping ship over to Amazon Prime to call Thursday Night Football games. Both he and Trico have called multiple games together since his arrival from ESPN in 2016.

Longtime viewers of the NFL may remember Tafoya's replacement. Stark was the sideline reporter for a few seasons on Monday Night Football on ABC before eventually becoming a host for the NFL Network since 2011.

The first broadcast for the new-look crew is the annual Hall of Fame Game, which will be played in Canton, Ohio on Aug. 4.
