Report: NFL to close all team facilities Monday, Tuesday

(RADIO.COM Sports) The NFL is ramping up its effort to combat any more COVID-19 outbreaks.

A league-wide memo was issued Friday stating all team facilities will be closed for all in-person activities on Monday and Tuesday, ESPN reported. Teams that are playing Monday and Tuesday aren't subject to the ban. All activities and meetings will be conducted virtually instead, with the exception of medical treatment and rehab.

The decision comes due to a spike in coronavirus cases across the country as well as within the NFL, particularly with the Baltimore Ravens, who have had about a dozen players and staff test positive in the last week, which has resulted in their Thursday night game against the Steelers to being rescheduled twice.

The league is also taking precautions with the understanding players may have had out-of-town guests to celebrate Thanksgiving, according to the memo.

The NFLPA has instructed players to alert teams if they have had guests over the past several days in order to prepare for additional testing when facilities reopen.
