(AUDACY) The people have spoken.
MLB on Thursday evening revealed its starters, as voted on by fans, for the All-Star Game on July 13 at Coors Field in Denver. The American and National League lineups feature nine first-time participants, including Angels phenom Shohei Ohtani, who's also slated to participate in the Home Run Derby alongside Rockies shortstop Trevor Story, Mets first baseman Pete Alonso and Orioles first baseman Trey Mancini. Surprisingly, no one from either of the World Series teams in 2020 — the Dodgers and Rays — was selected as a starter.
Catchers Salvador Perez of the Royals and Buster Posey of the Giants are each making their seventh All-Star appearances, while Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado, a former Rockie, is headed back to his old Colorado stomping grounds for his sixth appearance in the Midsummer Classic.
Pirates second baseman Adam Frazier, who figures to be a hot commodity at the upcoming trade deadline, was Pittsburgh's lone entry, becoming the team's first All-Star starter since outfielder Andrew McCutchen in 2014. Outfielder Nick Castellanos and outfielder Jesse Winker, a breakout star, gave the Reds two All-Star starters, their most since 2013 (Joey Votto and Brandon Phillips).
Meanwhile, the American League East will be well-represented in the All-Star festivities with three Blue Jays (first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr., second baseman Marcus Semien and outfielder Teoscar Hernandez), two Red Sox (shortstop Xander Bogaerts and third baseman Rafael Devers) and Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge all making the trip to Denver. Orioles outfielder Cedric Mullins could potentially give the AL East a seventh All-Star starter with Angels star Mike Trout unable to participate due to a calf injury.
Here's a look at all the position player starters. No Cubs or White Sox position player earned starting honors. The pitchers and reserves will be announced Sunday.

This will be the second All-Star Game staged at Coors Field and first since 1998. Truist Park in Atlanta was originally slated to host it, but MLB moved the game in response to a controversial bill restricting voter rights that was passed in Georgia's state senate earlier this year.
