Report: Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski to retire after upcoming season

(AUDACY) Duke men's basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski's legendary career will come to an end soon.

Krzyzewski will retire after the upcoming season, his 42nd at Duke, Jeff Goodman of Stadium reported Wednesday. Duke associate head coach Jon Scheyer, a native of Northbrook, is expected to replace Krzyzewski, Goodman reported. Scheyer joined Krzyzewski's staff as an assistant in 2014. Prior to that, Scheyer played at Duke, helping lead them to two ACC championships and the 2010 national championship.

In 1,399 career games at the helm of the Blue Devils' program, Krzyzewski has a 1,097-302 record, good for a .784 winning percentage. He has also led Duke to five national championships. His 1,170 total wins are the most in NCAA basketball history, regardless of division. Krzyzewski has also coached his players to incredible heights, with nine National Players of the Year and the most NBA lottery picks in the history of the draft.
