Anderson: Sox 'Got A Chance To Shock Some People'

(670 The Score) White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson has never lacked for confidence, and he's brimming with it to a new degree as spring training continues and a fortified team looks forward to the 2020 season.

Anderson particularly has excitement for the offense that he's a part of, as he envisions it being a drive force in the White Sox's fortunes this season.

"Somebody is going to have a night," Anderson said in an interview with 670 The Score host Danny Parkins on Tuesday. "Somebody is going to have a night every night. We are definitely stacked from top to bottom, man. Like I said, we have good hitters throughout the lineup. Somebody is going to have a night. Somebody is going to have a real good night, and somebody is going to have a great night. So you put that good night and great night, you put that all together, it could be crazy."

The White Sox were third-to-last in the American League in averaging 4.4 runs per game in 2019, so they will need ample improvement in that department to succeed. Knowing that, they added extensively to their offense in the offseason, headlined by signing All-Star catcher Yasmani Grandal and agreeing to a long-term deal with top prospect Luis Robert, which has paved the way for him to start in center field on Opening Day. The White Sox also signed powerful designated hitter Edwin Encarnacion and traded for right fielder Nomar Mazara.

So far, Anderson has liked what he has seen from the White Sox in spring training and Cactus League play.

"We definitely got a chance to really shock some people and prove some people wrong," Anderson said. "That's what we're playing like. We're just going to keep ourselves motivated and keep pushing and keep trying to knock everybody off their feet."
