(670 The Score) The White Sox have named right-hander Lucas Giolito their Opening Day starter.

Giolito will get the nod when the White Sox host the Twins at Guaranteed Rate Field on Friday evening, the team's Twitter account confirmed Sunday afternoon. When asked earlier in the afternoon about Giolito potentially being the Opening Day starter, White Sox manager Rick Renteria told reporters, "I don't know, I'll let you guys figure it out" while holding up a bobblehead of Giolito.

It will be the 25-year-old Giolito's first Opening Day start. He had a breakout 2019 season, going 14-9 with a 3.41 ERA and 1.06 WHIP over 29 starts while striking out an impressive 11.6 batters per nine innings.

"I absolutely want that," Giolito said recently. "The way I look at it, being the ace of the staff, you're setting an example -- not just with what you're doing on the field but also taking a more vocal role, which I feel like I'm trying to continue to get the feel for that."

The Twins have named ace right-hander Jose Berrios their starter for the opener Friday.
