(670 The Score) Less than a week after experiencing the joy of his MLB debut, White Sox second baseman Nick Madrigal has encountered unfortunate adversity.

Madrigal has a separated left shoulder and will be placed on the injured list, general manager Rick Hahn said Wednesday afternoon. Madrigal exited early in the White Sox's win against the Brewers on Tuesday after an awkward slide into third base.

The White Sox are optimistic the 23-year-old Madrigal can rejoin the team late in August after treatment and rehab, Hahn said. Madrigal was 5-of-17 at the plate in his first five games. He made his big league debut last Friday and had become the White Sox's everyday second baseman.

In other injury news, White Sox left-hander Carlos Rodon's preliminary scans came back clean after he experienced shoulder pain. He's on the 10-day injured list, and the White Sox hope he can return later in August, Hahn said.

Shortstop Tim Anderson will head to the alternate camp in Schaumburg after straining his groin and could rejoin the team next week, Hahn said.

Right-hander Reynaldo Lopez (shoulder) is already in Schaumburg and throwing. He could rejoin the big league team in a few weeks.

Designated hitter Edwin Encarnacion is day-to-day after leaving early Tuesday with shoulder soreness.
