Chicago recalled right-hander Jose Ruiz in a corresponding move.
Fry, 26, has a 5.01 ERA in 53 appearances. He can remain on the paternity list for as little as one day and as many as three.
Ruiz has posted a 5.45 ERA in 34 appearances over four stints with the White Sox this season. He has a 0.90 ERA in eight appearances at Triple-A Charlotte.
