(670 The Score) A day after shortstop Tim Anderson was sidelined by a nasty right ankle sprain, the White Sox on Wednesday watched as another talented young member of their core was injured.
Third baseman Yoan Moncada left in the top of the first inning soon after being hit on or near the right knee by a pitch from Red Sox ace Chris Sale. Moncada initially stayed in the game, but after limping while advancing to third on a double by teammate Jose Abreu, Moncada exited the game. Yolmer Sanchez pinch-ran for him.
Soon after Moncada left the game, the White Sox called him day-to-day with a right knee contusion.
Moncada, 24, is hitting .299 with 13 homers, 42 RBIs and an .869 OPS this season.
