Two more NFL stars appear to be moving from the gridiron to the boxing ring.
Adrian Peterson and Le’Veon Bell are in the process of setting up a boxing match against each other next month at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, according to TMZ Sports.
TMZ reported earlier this month that Bell was going to box in YouTube star Austin McBroom’s Social Gloves event but his opponent had not been determined.
Now, he will go toe-to-toe with a fellow former running back and arguably one of the best running backs in the history of the NFL in Peterson.
While nothing is yet confirmed, TMZ reports that the target date for the fight would be July 30.
Bell and Peterson are both similar in stature — both are listed at 6-foot-1 with Bell having a slight edge in weight at 225 vs. 220 for Peterson — according to their Pro-Football Reference pages, which is likely based on last year’s NFL season.
Peterson, 37, is seven years older than the 30-year-old Bell, although both of them had brief stints in the NFL last season. Peterson, a former MVP and future Hall of Famer, appeared in a total of four games with the Titans and Seahawks.
Meanwhile, Bell — a two-time All-Pro and three-time Pro Bowler — appeared in eight games last year for the Ravens and Bucs.
Bell had said he considered retiring to pursue boxing last year until the Bucs called him toward the end of the season. Peterson has not yet officially retired and has expressed his desire to retire as a Vikings, where he dominated most of his career.
