For the second day in a row, the Capitals have reportedly beefed up their forward corps.
Per multiple reports, the Caps are acquiring winger Alex Tuch from the Buffalo Sabres for a third-round draft pick, and signing the restricted free agent to an eight-year, $84 million extension.
Tuch, 30, posted 33 goals and 33 assists in 79 games for the Sabres this past season, helping them reach the postseason for the first time since 2011, and he was one of the top restricted free agents available this summer.
Buffalo negotiated with the hometown guy, but after negotiations broke down, he is apparently headed to DC in a sign-and-trade.
Washington acquired Jordan Kyrou from St. Louis on Tuesday for Connor McMichael, Milton Gastrin, and a 2026 first-round pick, so in adding Tuch, they have now added nearly $19 million in salary (McMichael was also an RFA) and two forwards as they wait for further clarification from Alex Ovechkin on his hockey future.
