It looks like Cam Ward will be the first QB drafted on Thursday night, and it’s likely Shedeur Sanders will be second – going anywhere from potentially No. 2 or 3 overall to somewhere in the first round.
Former Jets scout Daniel Kelly, though, thinks that if he’s there at 7, Gang Green should pass on Shedeur...and so should the other 31 teams?
So yes, the Buffaloes were 9-4 last season, tied for the Big 12 title, and went to the Alamo Bowl, but Kelly says don’t be fooled by the mirage.
“He has the stats, the completion percentage, all those types of things, but really, to me, it was a very friendly offense put together by a coach who has a lot of NFL experience, and knows how to manipulate really middling defenders in a very average college schedule,” Kelly said. “When they ratcheted it up and he went up a step to a higher level of competition, he went into his shell and became more hesitant. He was 1-7 against Top 25 teams over the last two years, so I take the stats that he put up at Colorado with a grain of salt, because the game film said that it was pretty much set up for him to pad his stats to even get him in the first-round discussion. That's what I think the whole thing was about."
