It’s getting late early in Chicago for Justin Fields and the Bears. The quarterback threw two interceptions and was sacked six times in the 27-17 loss in Tampa Bay on Sunday.
670 The Score’s Danny Parkins and Andrew Fillipponi of the Audacy original podcast “1st & Pod” discussed their feelings about Fields and the Bears after another uninspiring performance.
“When we did the podcast last week, I knew what my lead was going to be. I don’t know what I’m going to say,” Parkins said (1:01:55 in player above). “I’m so utterly disgusted.”
“There are so many negative things that for you to isolate or hone in on any one of them sounds like a very difficult task,” Fillipponi replied.
Parkins mentioned a poll question that he posed to his followers asking if Fields is the Bears’ franchise quarterback. The answer was a resounding no.
“Do you disagree with them right now?” Fillipponi asked.
“No! How could you?” Parkins exclaimed. “The guy holds onto the ball for an eternity.”
There were a lot of people who saw the potential in Fields during the disappointment that was last season.
“Last year you thought you had your guy. I thought you had your guy,” Fillipponi said. “I watched the highlights with Fields and was convinced he was going to be one of the breakout stars in the NFL this season.”
Unfortunately, this season could end up being an even bigger disappointment in Chicago.
“I can’t go through another season already talking about Caleb Williams and losing out,” Parkins said. “I wore a boa and spent $200 on balloons and threw a QB1 party after a loss last year.”
“Do a show in a Caleb Williams USC jersey,” Fillipponi suggested. “Spend $200 on that.”
Things don’t get any easier for the Bears with a matchup in Kansas City on tap. The Chiefs have allowed just 30 points through two weeks.
