The Giants are suddenly in need of a defensive coordinator, with reports of Patrick Graham heading to take on the same role with the Raiders, but Big Blue could reportedly find Graham’s replacement in the form of a recently fired head coach.
According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, “several people” in the Giants camp are “high” on Vic Fangio, who the Broncos fired as their head coach a day after the regular season ended. Fangio spent three seasons as Denver’s head coach, compiling a 19-30 record, including a 7-10 mark this season, the worst record in the AFC West.

Fangio has more than three decades of coaching experience in the NFL, including 19 years as a defensive coordinator. His most recent DC stint came with the Bears from 2015-2018, and previously had multi-year stints with the 49ers, Texans, Colts, and Panthers, dating all the way back to 1995. His coaching career began with the Saints in the 1980s, when he helped coach the famous “Dome Patrol” group as New Orleans’ linebackers coach.
In his second season as a defensive coordinator, Fangio helped the Panthers reach the NFC title game, then helped Jim Harbaugh turn San Francisco’s fortunes around when they arrived in 2011, leading the team to a Super Bowl appearance a year later.
