Just a few days after Kansas City Chiefs linebackers coach Britt Reid — the son of head coach Andy Reid — was driving a car that crashed into two other vehicles, one child who was left with life-threatening injuries has received over $250,000 in donations through a GoFundMe.

The GoFundMe account was set up by the cousin of Felicia Miller, whose five-year-old daughter, Ariel, suffered the life-threatening injuries. Its initial goal was $40,000, according to Juan Cisneros of Fox 4 Kansas City. However, the data on the GoFundMe page says that the total has surpassed $250,000 votes as of Sunday night and continues to grow. I clicked on the page to find $271,000 in donations, and refreshed it a few minutes later to see the total at $273,856.

An update from Tiffany Verhulst, who organized the page, says that Ariel remains hospitalized, in critical condition and is not yet awake after suffering "swelling in and bleeding in and around the brain." Felicia Miller is a single mother of three, according to Verhulst's description, and is dealing with hospital bills and weeks of missed work.

Britt Reid was not with the Kansas City Chiefs at Super Bowl LV, which they lost 31-9. He was hospitalized with undisclosed injuries following the crash, a source told ESPN's Dianna Russini. He was also reported to have had bloodshot eyes and "a moderate odor of alcoholic beverages" on him, according to a police officer statement.

CBS play-by-play announcer Jim Nantz briefly mentioned the incident in the second half of Super Bowl LV, but it was not given more attention than that. The Chiefs also released a statement prior to reports of the wreck and subsequent injuries.
