Zach Wilson is reportedly being benched for Sunday’s Jets game against the Bears.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that New York held a team meeting on Wednesday morning, and was informed by coaches that Wilson would not be starting in Week 12 against Chicago after a rough outing against the Patriots where he threw for just 77 yards.

After the loss, Wilson bluntly replied, “No” when asked if he felt the offense let the team’s defense down in the 10-3 defeat, which drew heavy criticism from fans, led head coach Robert Saleh to say his young quarterback “could be better” when talking with reporters at the podium, and stirred more controversy when two Jets defensive players liked a tweet criticizing Wilson, then quickly claimed it was an accident.
Wilson has yet to show promising growth after being selected No. 2 overall last year, and will now take a seat in favor of Mike White, who burst onto the scene last year when Wilson was hurt, helping the Jets stun the eventual AFC champion Bengals.
