The Audacy DC family is saddened by the loss of our good friend John Feinstein, who passed away Thursday at his brother’s home in Virginia at the age of 69. The cause of death is still unknown.
Feinstein was a long-time guest of The Sports Junkies every Friday at 8 a.m., discussing anything and everything in the world of sports and the latest books he had published or was working on, and was a long-time columnist for the Washington Post among other outlets.
The author of 44 books, more than half of which have been named to the New York Times Bestsellers list, John was most recently working for Longwood University as a men’s basketball color analyst and writer-in-residence/professor in their Cormier Honors College.
"John Feinstein was a titan of sports journalism. A master storyteller and fearless reporter, John brought us behind the scenes of the most intriguing teams, and into the real lives of the most interesting sports figures. We were so lucky to have his sharp insights as a regular contributor to 106.7 The Fan for over 14 years. Our thoughts are with his family, his readers, and his listeners," said Audacy Vice President of Sports Chris Kinard.
Audacy sends its condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of John Feinstein, and The Sports Junkies will pay tribute to their long-time friend this week in his former regular 8 a.m. Friday time slot.
