JUNKIES: Chris Caputo ready for GW's first postseason bid since 2017
In his third season at George Washington, Chris Caputo led the Revolutionaries to a 21-12 record and their first postseason berth since 2017, a trip to the inagural College Basketball Crown event in Vegas.
It’s also the Revs’ first true winning season since that 2016-17 campaign, a year they were coming off the NIT Championship, and it’s a testament to how hard his team worked.
That said, having a bunch of college kids in Las Vegas for the duration of this event could lend itself to, let’s say some discipline being lost, but Caputo has an idea on how to keep that in check.
“I’ve never coached a team in Vegas, but there's some of these preseason tournaments out there and conference tournaments, so I'm gonna call a couple of those guys and ask them what they've done,” Caputo said. “I was proud of our group last year, we were down at the Baha Mar, and I can tell you we logged the fewest moments at the craps table of all the teams! There were times that I'd come out of a shootaround or a meeting or something and I'd see some of the other teams, and they were pretty engaged. I don't think our guys really knew what to do, so I'm hopeful that's still the case.”
