As drama continues to swirl around the Brooklyn Nets and Kevin Durant, with the latter recently issuing an ultimatum between him and head coach Steve Nash and GM Sean Marks, Kyrie Irving also finds himself in the mix of things.

Amid Durant’s disapproval of the Nets head coach and GM came a report that Irving “hates” Nash and Marks, feeling the head coach is “terrible” and the GM is “bad.”

Shetallia Riley Irving, the Nets star’s agent and also his stepmother, is refuting that notion, however.

“I am not sure where this narrative is coming from but Kyrie dos not hate Steve nor Sean,” Shetallia Riley Irving told the New York Post. “That’s not a part of his being nor how he represents himself in the world. He’s about peace, love and acceptance.”

Shetallia Riley Irving declined further comment when asked if Kyrie agrees with Durant, according to The Post.

“Hate” may be a strong word, but it is no secret Irving may not be the biggest fans of Nash or Marks.

Marks drew a line in the sand with Irving when it came to a contract extension, refusing to give him a max deal after Irving missed a majority of the 2021-22 season due to his objection to receiving a COVID-19 vaccine that made him ineligible for Brooklyn home games under NYC law.

Meanwhile, Irving has seemingly dismissed Nash’s role as the head coach, saying two years ago that he “doesn’t really see” the Nets having a head coach. There were also reports earlier this summer that Irving would run his own practices after Nash conducted his, essentially undermining the head coach.

Whether or not the Nets trade Durant, and based on Joseph Tsai’s comments that the coaching staff and front office has his support it seems like they may, it is unclear how Irving’s future with the team may play out.
