One day, the rivalry between Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen could be at the level of Tom Brady vs. Peyton Manning.

Mahomes isn’t ready to say they’re there yet. He thinks they're far from it, actually.

Whenever the Chiefs and Bills have played in the Mahomes-Allen era, it has been a dandy. Be it in the postseason or regular season, the two seem to bring out the best in one another. Such was the case Sunday afternoon, when the Chiefs narrowly fell 24-20 at Arrowhead Stadium to Allen and the Bills.

The caliber of play and intrigue of the games has resulted in comparisons between the Allen-Mahomes rivalry and the Brady-Manning tilts. But in his weekly appearance Monday on “The Drive,” Mahomes wasn’t ready to go there.

“We’re two guys that love to compete, we love to go out there and try to find a way to will our team to win,” Mahomes said. “The Brady-Manning (comparisons), we’ve still got a long ways to go. Brady-Manning didn’t become Brady-Manning until they were kind of towards the latter part of their careers because they had already won so many championships and MVPs and everything like that.

“I think you could ask Josh the same thing, we see that we could be there, but at the same time we both have a long ways to go to put ourselves on that pedestal.”

Indeed, both have a long way to go before they can really be considered part of the Brady and Manning class. The skills are there though, and their rivalry maybe one day reaching that level means football fans were treated to even more classics between the two.
