Apparently, “Mattress Mack” is all in on Joe Burrow.

Furniture mogul Jim McIngvale placed a hefty wager on Cincinnati to upset the Rams in next week’s Super Bowl LVI, betting $4,534,000 on the Bengals to win outright at +170 odds. That represents the largest mobile wager of all-time. It’s also the second-biggest wager Caesars has ever taken on the Super Bowl, eclipsed only by a $4.9 million bet placed on the Rams to beat New England in Super Bowl XXXVI. The Patriots won 20-17 on Adam Vinatieri’s walk-off field goal, giving Tom Brady his first of seven Super Bowl victories. If the Bengals pull it off, Mattress Mack will pocket an obscene $7,707,800.
According to ESPN’s David Purdum, McIngvale had to cross state lines, hopping the border to Louisiana, where sports betting recently became legal. Mattress Mack, who stopped at a gas station to make his bet before driving back to Texas, said it took over 20 installments of $200,000—the maximum allowed on the Caesars app—to complete his wager.
McIngvale is offering full refunds for shoppers who spend more than $3,000 at his store (Gallery Furniture with three locations in Greater Houston) if Cincinnati wins, so essentially, he’s hedging his bet. Mack made a similar investment last year, betting $3.46 million on the Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV while offering customers the same deal if Tampa Bay covered the spread (+3.5) against Kansas City.
Though that one obviously hit, Mack has run cold of late, blowing a remarkable $8.2 million on failed bets in the past month alone. He also took a bath on his hometown Astros, who he bet $13 million to win the World Series last fall.
The Bengals are 4.5-point underdogs against the Rams, who won’t have to travel for this one with the Super Bowl being staged in Los Angeles for the first time since 1993. Cincinnati has appeared in the Super Bowl on two previous occasions, losing both times (1981 and 1988).
