The Houston Astros may have won the World Series, but nobody was a bigger winner than “Mattress Mack” and the customers of his furniture store.

Jim McIngvale, the owner of retail chain Gallery Furniture and who goes by “Mattress Mack,” won $75 million after placing $10 million worth of Astros futures bets on them to win the World Series earlier this season for what is the largest known winning sports bet in history.

But Mattress Mack is not the only winner of the bet.

McIngvale had offered any customers who spent more than $3,000 on sleep sets or power motion furniture at his store would get their money back if the Astros won the World Series.

Prior to winning the ALCS, McIngvale offered customers double their money back.

“I feel great, because a lot of our customers are going to get free mattresses,” he told FOX 26 in Houston after the game.

So, in reality, anyone who spent a decent amount of money at his stores is the real winner in what was ultimately an incredible bet, promotional stunt and hedge.
