Mystics trade Myisha Hines-Allen to Minnesota

The Washington Mystics made a rare move ahead of Tuesday night’s WNBA Trade Deadline, dealing veteran forward Myisha Hines-Allen to Minnesota for Sika Kone, Olivia Epoupa, and a 2026 second-round pick.

The Mystics then announced that they have waived both Epoupa and DiDi Richards.

Hines-Allen, now 28, was a second-round pick in 2018 and has appeared in 187 games for the Mystics, averaging 7.0 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.9 assists in 18 minutes per game. This season, she was averaging 8.0 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.7 assists across 19.1 minutes per game, shooting 35.9% from three-point range.

Epoupa, 30, is in her first WNBA season after an international career that saw here play in France, Turkey, Australia, and Hungary. The French guard played 14 games for Minnesota, averaging just 6.6 minutes a game and less than one point per game.

Kone was a third-round pick of the Liberty in 2022 but played that season in Spain. She came to the league last year and appeared in 20 games for Chicago, averaging 3.6 points and 3.0 rebounds per game. She was traded to Minnesota on draft night and played 17 games for the Lynx, averaging 1.2 points per game.

Richards made the WNBA All-Rookie Team in 2021 after being a second-round pick of the Liberty, but was out of the WNBA in 2023 (playing in Australia) before returning this year in DC. She played in 20 games, averaging 2.3 points and 1.5 rebounds in 9.9 minutes per game.

The Mystics are a WNBA-worst 6-21 heading into Tuesday night’s home game with Seattle, just their third game back after a month-long Olympic break.
