Grant and Danny assistant producer Ryan Clary went out to Nationals Park over the weekend to ask fans a simple question: can you name five players on your favorite team?

Granted, the Nationals are rebuilding and don’t have established faces like in years past, but still, the results of Ryan’s study were downright depressing to Grant and Danny.

“This is not a joke,” Ryan said. “I could not find a single fan who could name five Nationals players, and by my count, I interviewed at least 42.”

Seriously? The fans went 0-for-42?? That would be a baseball slump of epic proportions. That’s close to former Orioles slugger Chris Davis’ painful streak of 54 straight at-bats without a hit.

“That is so depressing to me,” Grant said. “These aren’t random people at a bowling alley. These are Nationals people at a Nationals game. My thought is, if you’re a fan of the team, you know the team. Do I overrate that?

“Forty two players don’t know five players on the team?”

If it’s any consolation, Phillies fans didn’t do too great either, as one struggled badly to correctly pronounce the names of Nick Castellanos and J.T. Realmuto, and needed help to come up with a fifth player.
