We’ve got a second Yankees-Nationals infielder trade in three days: New York is sending Zack Short to Washington for cash considerations, and Short will report to Triple-A Rochester.

Short, 30, signed a minor-league deal with the Yankees this past winter and was reassigned to minor-league camp after spending spring training with the club.

He has played 241 MLB games over five seasons with five clubs, most recently 22 last year with Houston, and has slashed .172/.271/.296 with 15 home runs and 76 RBI while playing shortstop, second base, and third base. He also has a handful of innings in the outfield.

The Yankees sent infielder Jorbit Vivas to the Nationals on Sunday for minor-league RHP Sean Paul Linan, but unlike Vivas, Short was not on the Yankees’ 40-man roster, so he can head to Triple-A Rochester without any roster moves.
