Nationals call up OF prospect Daylen Lile, place Jacob Young on 10-day IL
Another Nationals top prospect is headed to the Bigs – the team announced they have called up outfielder Daylen Lile from Triple-A Rochester ahead of Friday’s series opener with San Francisco.
Lile replaces Jacob Young, who was officially placed on the 10-day IL with a sprained AC joint, in his left shoulder suffered when he ran into the outfield wall on Saturday.
The 22-year-old was the Nats’ second-round pick in 2021, and after missing 2022 due to Tommy John surgery, he has launched himself into being Washington’s No. 9 prospect according to MLB Pipeline.
Lile has had a strong 2024, slashing .319/.340/.505 in 21 games at Double-A Harrisburg before earning his first promotion to Triple-A, where he had a .361/.432/.514 slash line in 82 plate appearances over 18 games.
He is also 9-for-12 in steals this year, after going 25-for-30 last year between High-A and Double-A.
He is the second top outfield prospect called up this week following Robert Hassell III, who was added Wednesday and made his MLB debut against Atlanta on Thursday night.
