John Angelos, the son of the ailing, nonagenarian owner of the Baltimore Orioles Peter Angelos, has reportedly decided to sell the franchise to a group led by David Rubenstein as the franchise “control person” with New York businessman Michael Arougheti.
The deal values the Orioles at $1.725 billion and would have Rubenstein and company assume a 40 percent stake in the franchise now and the remainder upon the elder Angelos' death, according to multiple reports.
The group also reportedly includes Orioles legend Cal Ripken Jr., former mayor of Baltimore Kurt Schmoke, businessman and former mayor of New York City Michael Bloomberg, and former NBA star Grant Hill.
To talk about the big news in Baltimore and how that also impacts the sale of the Washington Nationals and what it means for the MASN deal, Kevin Sheehan brought in longtime columnist and good friend of the Kevin Sheehan Show Thom Loverro.
