As if the Brooklyn Nets needed more problems this summer, it now appears that even the youngsters on the team are frustrated with head coach Steve Nash.

In a postgame interview following Sunday’s Summer League game, Nets guard Cam Thomas rolled his eyes when the interviewer mentioned she spoke to Nash about the advice the head coach was giving him.

The reporter said Nash was “encouraging you to look for your shot and your teammates.”

Thomas replied, “It is what it is.”

The 20-year-old had just scored 26 points against the 76ers, which followed a 31-point performance against the Milwaukee Bucks’ Summer League team in his previous game.

While Thomas may not be a star on the team, he is a young talent whom the Nets will need to buy into Nash’s vision, especially if they are without Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.

It also comes after reports surfaced that Irving had a “lack of respect” for Nash, which was another issue at the center of his contract extension talks before he opted into his player option. There were reports that Irving even conducted his own practice after Nash finished with the team.

Irving has not tried to hide his criticism of Nash in the past, either, so perhaps his perspective of the head coach is influencing younger players on the team.

Whatever the reason, fact that Thomas, a second-year player who averaged 8.5 points in 17.6 minutes per game last year, would outwardly show annoyance about his head coach is certainly not a good look for anyone.
