As the Philadelphia 76ers look to rebound from an extremely disappointing first-round exit in the NBA playoffs, they're reportedly meeting with one of the most accomplished coaches of this era.

NBA Insider Shams Charania says that the Sixers are meeting with Doc Rivers, who recently parted ways with the Los Angeles Clippers. This should hardly come as a surprise, as ESPN's Marc Spears reported that the Sixers had contacted Rivers within hours of his dismissal in Los Angeles. Kendrick Perkins, who played for Rivers in Boston, added yesterday on Scal and Pals that he's heard the Sixers have shown the most interest in Rivers of any team currently seeking a new coach.

Rivers has a 943-681 career record in 21 seasons as an NBA head coach, having led the Clippers, Boston Celtics and Orlando Magic. He's coached in the NBA every season since 2004-05, with the 58-year-old most notably leading the 2007-08 Celtics to an NBA Finals victory.

As they prepare to watch Jimmy Butler play in the NBA Finals as a member of the Miami Heat, the Sixers are at a crossroads in the Joel Embiid-Ben Simmons Era. The Sixers went 43-30 in the 2019-20 season, earning a disappointing finish as the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference. They were swept by the Celtics in the first round of the postseason.

The Sixers fired Brett Brown after seven seasons on Aug. 24. In the time since his firing, the Sixers have also been connected to Mike D'Antoni and Tyronn Lue.
