Miami Dolphins star wide receiver Tyreek Hill says the end of his illustrious career is in sight.
The 29-year-old, four-time All-Pro revealed this week that he plans to retire at the conclusion of his contract following the 2025 campaign. That would give Hill three more years in the league.
Hill mentioned the plan during a radio appearance on Wednesday. The seven-year pro said he wants to play for a decade before venturing into other endeavors, specifically in gaming.
"I'm going for 10 [seasons], man," Hill, told Sports Radio 810 in Kansas City on Wednesday. "I'm going to finish out this contract with the Dolphins, and then I'm going to call it quits. I want to go into the business side. I want to do so many things in my life, bro."
Could Hill really walk away from the league at age 31, when he'd still presumably have plenty left in the tank?
Channing Crowder, former Dolphins linebacker and co-host of 560 Sports WQAM's "Hochman And Crowder," isn't so sure.
"Hundred percent lie," Crowder said. "He's just talking and joking with the guys. When I read it, I was like -- it looked kind of funny. Then I saw the video. He's not retiring. There's no way."
Crowder even predicted Hill wouldn't reach free agency by the time the four-year extension he signed with the Dolphins last offseason is scheduled to expire.
"He's not getting to free agency. Somebody is going to re-up his deal in 2024, and he's going to be contracted through 2027."
But co-host Marc Hochman was taking Hill's words a little more seriously.
"I don't know, man. That window -- you've got three years, Tua."
Hill is entering his second season with the Dolphins after they acquired him from the Kansas City Chiefs last offseason. He promptly signed a four-year, $120 million extension, making him the league's top-paid wide receiver by average annual salary.
Meanwhile, Hill is set to face his former team for the first time in 2023, when the Dolphins pay a visit to Kansas City.
Hill, who ranked second in the NFL with 1,710 receiving yards last season, said during the radio appearance that he's looking forward to being Chiefs fans' "worst enemy" that day.
"Chiefs Kingdom, when the Miami Dolphins come to Arrowhead Stadium this year, guess what we gonna do?" Hill said. "Guess what we gonna do? I hate to say it, man. I hate to throw up the peace sign against y'all. I hate to do it! But guess what? I'm gonna be y'all worst enemy that day. I'm gonna be y'all worst enemy that day."
