Virginia withdraws from ACC Tournament due to positive COVID test

Friday's ACC Tournament game between Virginia men's basketball and Georgia Tech has been cancelled after a positive COVID test within Virginia's program, the conference announced.

As a result, Virginia is withdrawing from the ACC Tournament and Georgia Tech will advance to the tournament championship game, playing the winner of Friday's Florida State-North Carolina game.

"The cancellation follows a positive test, subsequent quarantining, and contact tracing within the Virginia men's basketball program," reads a statement from the ACC. "The team is adhering to the outlined protocols within the ACC Medical Advisory Group report, which is available on theACC.com (full report)."

Duke similarly had to withdraw from the tournament after a positive test within its program on Thursday.
