The Washington Commanders entered the fourth quarter on Sunday in a two-possession game. Now, being down 16-0 is the highest possible deficit for a two-score hole, but that was the case. However, even with that being the case, Ben Standig tells Kevin Sheehan on the Monday after the 37-3 defeat, "Even at that point it still felt like they were getting destroyed for the most part, their offense felt like it had no real shot and Josh Allen was seemingly still getting his way when he needed to on third down."
"But it was still a game and then, of course, [Antonio Gibson] fumbled, they get a pick-6 and obviously it's all she wrote. That's about as optimistic as I can get. Everything else was pretty much a mess."
Sheehan and Standig both agreed it didn't feel like it was much of a game at that point, but there was a period earlier in the second half when things could have turned out differently.
To hear about that and much more analysis on everything from their assessment of Sam Howell, who looked incredibly overmatched for periods of the game, and the offensive line getting worked over, Ron Rivera's postgame comments, Eric Bieniemy calling a lot of dropback passes, the Commanders' defense and much, much more, listen on the audio player above.
