A once impossible thought appears to be creeping ever closer towards becoming a reality, after Wednesday's news that Dan and Tanya Snyder have hired Bank of America Securities "to consider potential transactions."
Many took that as a sign that the Snyders plan to put the Washington Commanders up for sale after 23 years of ownership; although the vagueness of the wording in their announcement leaves it open to interpretation.
Now, Bloomberg.com reports that media tycoon Byron Allen is preparing a bid to purchase the Commanders.
Allen recently prepared a bid to purchase the Denver Broncos, but was ultimately outbid by Rob Walton, the billionaire heir to the Walmart throne, who led an ownership group that purchased the Broncos for $4.65 billion in June, the most expensive sale of a sports franchise ever.
The Snyders have a full ownership stake in the Commanders.
