Commanders had NFL's second-worst gate revenue in 2021

The Washington Commanders had the second-lowest gate revenue in the NFL in 2021, according to a new report, one spot behind the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars and ahead of only the Detroit Lions.

This shouldn't come as a huge surprise, as Washington also finished the season with the second-worst average attendance (52,751), but it does serve as a stark reminder of just how far the franchise has fallen, from one of the most popular in the NFL when Dan Snyder purchased the team in 1999.

Per Sportico, Washington — known last season as the Washington Football Team before rebranding as the Washington Commanders this year — ranked 31st in gate revenue.

The Las Vegas Raiders led the league with $119 million in gate revenue.
