Dan Quinn on the hot seat? Craig Hoffman responds to a wild take about the Commanders head coach

Do you think Dan Quinn bought a home or is he renting? Well, ESPN analysts Mina Kimes and Kevin Clark have a bold prediction that makes us hope the Washington Commanders head coach didn't purchase a home as they believe Quinn could be fired after just one season if the team has a terrible 2024 NFL season.

Kimes and Clark had a conversation on the former's podcast first ranking who they believe are the Top 10 head coaches in the NFL and then discussing the five coaches who they believe are most on the hot seat entering this season.

In the conversation about the warmth growing beneath the tuchus of Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni, they transitioned to the other teams around the division.

"Here's the thing about the NFC East, though, you could argue that every single coach in this division [Is on the hot seat]," Kimes said, with Clark interjecting to agree with her. "Dan Quinn did not make my Top 5 [on the hot seat], but he could. If there is one coaching hire this year who might be the one and done it would be him. I do not believe he was their first choice. I'm very nervous about the situatuion that Jayden Daniels is walking into behind that offensive line. And if it looks bad, to me, new ownership, I could see him getting the ax."

Clark at one point added that Quinn could be a head coaching hire that is "pre-fired."

Hoffman's response: "I'm sorry, what? If it goes poorly, Dan Quinn could get the ax? He's pre-fired? ... that is one of the most ridiculous things I've heard from smart people in a long time."

For Hoffman one part that doesn't add up for him is that there are at least 10 head coaches in his mind who are "at least in hotter water" than the first-year Commanders man.

"What does pre-fired mean? The same people that hired him just four months ago, they just hired him?!? You don't hire people to fire people months later!" Hoffman said, before calling out Kimes for believing that Quinn was not the Commanders' brain trust's first choice for the vacant head coaching position after Ron Rivera was fired and there was a long interview process.

"I'm trying not to get like overly annoyed, but it's probably too late," Hoffman continued. "How many times does John Keim, who knows more about this than everybody else, need to tell you that when [Washington] got through the first round of interviews, Dan Quinn was at the top of their list?"

Hoffman takes issue with the belief that the offensive line this year is as bad as Kimes believes and places the blame for last year's poor play on former offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy who ran dropback passing plays at a higher percentage with a quarterback who has a sack issue than any other team in the league and Kliff Kingsbury won't be doing that.

But, Hoffman has a bit of grace with Kimes and Clark as he respects both of their insight and knowledge of the NFL a great deal. But he really disagrees with them. His complete take can be heard on the audio player above!
