The Washington Commanders have the chance to drastically change the direction of the franchise with one pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. But what if new general manager Adam Peters ins't feeling it? Doesn't feel in love with the options that the Commanders have on the board when it comes to a quarterback when Washington is on the clock with at No. 2?
Well, this draft is stocked with top tier talent at wide receiver – with at least two or three going in the Top 10 – and is a very deep draft when it comes to offensive line talent. Would it be acceptable to trade back and acquire draft capital even if it means Washington does not come out of the first round with one of the 2024 draft's top three passers?
For Lynnell Willingham's Commanders Overreaction on the Hoffman Show, he said fans should be open to the idea that the team doesn't take a quarterback in the Top 10 if Peters and the brain trust is not in love with the options they have when Washington is on the clock.
For Willingham every option from bringing back Kirk Cousins in free agency to trading back and back and back again and grabbing South Carolina (by way of Oklahoma) quarterback Spencer Rattler at the top of Round 2. (Craig Hoffman is a little more partial to Michigan's J.J. McCarthy than he thought he would be before the NFL Combine.)
