Commanders reportedly acquire Pro Bowl CB Marshon Lattimore from Saints

The Commanders have addressed arguably their greatest area of need, as multiple reports indicate the team has acquired cornerback Marshon Lattimore from the Saints.

The Pro Bowler will be arriving on a minimum contract for the rest of this season after Lattimore restructured his contract with New Orleans before the start of this season.

The 28-year-old is still recovering from a hamstring injury, but when healthy, represents one of the top corners in football, and drastically improves a secondary that lagged far behind Washington’s high-powered offense. With this move, the Commanders are making it clear that they are ready to go for a deep playoff run, as they currently sit at 7-2 with the emergence of Jayden Daniels.

Per early reports, Washington is sending back a third-round pick and more to New Orleans for Lattimore, along with a fourth and a sixth, while the Commanders get back a fifth-round pick as well. As WTEM's Craig Hoffman noted, the third-round pick sent out by the Commanders is their original pick., not the one from the Jahan Dotson trade with the Eagles, meaning they keep the pick from that round that will be notably higher.

Given the Commanders have nine picks in the 2025 NFL Draft, they were well set up to part with assets to make an all-in move for this season, which has been an improbable turnaround from sellers in 2023 to first place in the NFC East in 2024.

Lattimore, a four-time Pro Bowler, has appeared in seven games this season, but did not play in the Saints’ last game.
