Jon Allen signs three-year deal with Minnesota, Cornelius Lucas inks two-year pact with Cleveland

Two Commanders linemen are headed to the Midwest, as Jonathan Allen has agreed to a three-year deal with Minnesota, while OT Cornelius Lucas is headed to Cleveland on a two-year pact.

Per his agent, Allen, who was released by the Commanders last week, will earn $60 million from the Vikings, getting a raise from the $15.5 million he was owed this season had he stayed for the final year of his deal in Washington.

The former first-rounder missed nine games last year after tearing his pec in October, but he came back for the postseason, and finished with three sacks and three tackles for loss. Over eight years in burgundy and gold, the 30-year-old had 42 sacks in 108 games and was a two-time Pro Bowler.

Allen’s addition comes on the same day Minnesota also added OG Will Fries on a five-year deal, and they’ve also added center Ryan Kelly while re-signing RB Aaron Jones, CB Byron Murphy, S Theo Jackson, and punter Ryan Wright.

Lucas’ two-year deal is worth up to $10 million according to reports, ending his five-year tenure in DC. The 33-year-old was a swing tackle for the Commanders last season, ranking 27th out of 141 qualifying tackles in PFF grade, and he now heads to a Cleveland tackle group that is set to lose Jedrick Wills in free agency and has already lost James Hudson to the Giants.
