This year’s running back class is very deep, and while you can look at mocks and write-ups everywhere, the fact that former All-Pro RB Maurice Jones-Drew has four guys who can be Day 1 bell cows and another dozen who can excel in the right system, and there’s something for everyone.
Running back is a spot where the Commanders will likely be looking to supplement and upgrade in the draft, but after looking at things, Craig Hoffman came to a grim conclusion:
But what about in the second round, even, at 61 if the class is so good?
“This is how this goes: ultimately, you have to be right about the player, but what doesn’t change is the reward, what changes is the risk,” Hoffman said. “If you miss on a tackle at 29, it’s an easier position to evaluate, but you can take that tackle and move him to guard and have a starter, or a swing tackle. You do it at running back and you miss, there’s probably a half-dozen backs who get taken later that will have good careers taken after.
