The Washington Commanders' defense has gotten off to another slow start to start the 2023 NFL season. There was a decent game against Arizona and a solid second half against Denver, but overall it has not been good enough from Jack Del Rio's unt.
After losses in which they allowed 40, 37 and 34 (and 33 in a win) in consecutive weeks, Craig Hoffman asks: Did we overrate the defensive talent on the Commanders roster?
"What would the players have [rated] at the beginning of the year – what did we think we have – turns out through five games, what do we have?" Hoffman said. "My prediciton is there is one to two defensive players that have a better rating than we would have given them at the beginning of the year. That's it. One to two."
Plus a longer breakdown of how actually good Washington's front seven – the unit that includes the defensive line which is supposed to be one of the best groups in the league – really is and how good the secondary is.
