On a Vibe Check Tuesday, Craig Hoffman was faced with a hypothetical that, in some ways, would make sense for the Commanders, and in other ways surely doesn’t: if Arizona calls and offers Kyler Murray for the No.
2 pick, what could/would/should Adam Peters do?
Mike in Connecticut called in and thinks we’re “entering the paralysis by over-analysis zone,” but he’s a little scared of Jayden Daniels due to RG3 PTSD – and after Craig helped talk Mike down, another caller named Corey, who thinks Daniels is the perfect pick, brought up the idea of Arizona offering No. 4 and Kyler Murray for No. 2, and the Commanders getting Marvin Harrison Jr.
Annnnnnnnnnnnd that’s where the idea died.
“I have two thoughts that shut that down pretty quickly; one is why would Arizona say yes to that?” Craig replied. “I guess your argument is they would reset their quarterback timeline and get whoever they like on a rookie quarterback contract timeline, so okay, that's one part that I could see them potentially wanting to do that.”
But what about Washington?
“The other part of it is I don't want to pay Kyler Murray. Kyler Murray is expensive, he has been hurt, and he has spent a ton of time on the bench; he is expensive and unreliable and that is a bad combination,” Craig said. “I like Kyler as a player just fine when he's out there, but I can't trust him, and there's also been enough questions I think about his leadership and how he approaches things that if you are trying to build a people-first organization in the way that Dan Quinn and Adam Peters are, he's not the right cultural fit either.”
