Hoffman: Why didn’t Roger Goodell kick Dan Snyder out of NFL sooner?

Dan Snyder's time as owner of the Washington Commanders has just a few days left. But one of the big questions is why has the owner of the franchise since 1999 been allowed to stick around after a seemingly endless run of scandal and controversey?

And new reporting from ESPN indicates that Snyder could have gotten away with it all had he simply waited to return from his rather lenient NFL punishment from commissioner Roger Goodell in the summer of 2021 had he, allegedly, not decided to leak Jon Gruden's emails to the media.

"The thing that I still don't understand is, why Goodell had every opportunity to get rid of an owner he should have wanted to get rid of and didn't," Craig Hoffman said on Team 980. "It's been my overwhelming question throughout this entire thing going back to the Washington Post stories in July of 2020.

"If I was the commissioner of the NFL, every single day I woulda showed up to work – especially since 2017 when the season ticket holder numbers just plummetted here in D.C. ... - I woulda gone to work every day and been like, 'I swear to god if Dan Snyder messes up today I'm gonna send his ass to the moon. We are gonna get rid of that guy."
