Jacory Croskey-Merritt, who likes to be called Bill, ready for Commanders rookie minicamp

Maybe Adam Peters can call him Bill, but his name is Jacory Croskey-Merritt, and the Arizona was the Commanders’ final draft pick last week, taken in Saturday’s seventh round.

He’s now had his first few days as a Commander under his belt, and when he joined Chris Russell on Wednesday, JCM (that’s what we’re calling him) did indeed say his preferred name is what AP called him, and that goes back to his freshman year at Alabama State!

“That was actually when I first got to college, it was Little Bill, and it became kind of a household name!” laughed ‘Bill.’

Whatever you call him, he’s in DC ready for Rookie minicamp this weekend, and ready to get on the field to show what he can do after a whirlwind week-plus that included learning the basics of the Commanders’ playbook.

“This last week has been good, just getting into the playbook early; all I’ve been doing this week is just making sure that I'm on top of my game, so when I get in, I can just kind of play free,” he said. “It’s gonna be hiccups here and there, but just make sure I understand what's going on and just ready to be a pro, ready to take this next step as seriously as possible, because it's something I've been dreaming of. So, it’s been just a lot of preparation.”

He was a seventh-round pick in part because of eligibility issues limiting him to just one game last year, but come this weekend, all that matters is showing the Commanders he can be an NFL player.
