After much speculation and assumption, Jayden Daniels confirmed that his unreal Hail Mary touchdown against the Bears last October was even more miraculous than previously thought.
The rookie QB had been removed from the Commanders’ previous game against the Panthers with a ribs injury and was considered “week to week.” He suited up for the game against Chicago on Oct. 27, and with Washington trailing 15-12 on the final play of the game, Daniels reared back and uncorked a prayer from his own 35-yard line, leading to a 52-yard touchdown pass to Noah Brown to win the game in one of the most exciting games in recent franchise history.
In a recent video clip posted by the NFL to market the new Madden game, Daniels revealed to Justin Jefferson and Saquon Barkley that he did indeed have the injury many may have suspected when he played hero against Chicago.
“With a broke rib,” Daniels said casually while the three watched a replay of the Hail Mary touchdown.
The revelation only adds to the legend of Daniels’ rookie season, which included a trip to the NFC title game in one of the more memorable seasons the Commanders have had this century. The hype is as high as it’s ever been in the upcoming season, as fans hope Daniels will take that sparkling rookie campaign and rise to superstardom in year two.
