Jaylin Lane can already tell Washington 'is a special place'

Jaylin Lane’s NFL career is unofficially officially underway, as he is in Ashburn this week for the Commanders’ first full-team voluntary OTAs.

And already, he can see what makes Washington such a special team.

Lane’s college journey started at Middle Tennessee State, around a coach whose vibe he liked, and he eventually transferred to Virginia Tech because he ‘wanted to be able to prove that I could play at a higher level.’

“I didn’t want that to be a question with me getting drafted – I saw the opportunity with the transfer portal, and Tech was one of the first teams to hit me up,” Lane said. “The atmosphere, first off, is great, and I got a lot of great coaches there. I felt like you helped me get where I'm at today, so I felt like it was a great decision.”

He’s now at the highest level in the NFL, where as he says, ‘there’s more communication, but the more you communicate the faster you can play,’ and he already feels at home.

“I think in the locker room you get the vibes of a college locker room, where you're around the guys all the time. I really didn't know what to expect, but you know you got dudes joking around, and it just feels like a real brotherhood,” Lane said. “It’s surreal to be around some of these guys, but that speaks to what the higher-ups are trying to do here and the brotherhood and bond we’ve got.”
