Joe Theismann joined The Sports Junkies on Friday to discuss the changing of the guard in Washington, as the Josh Harris ownership group is ushering in a new era of football to a city starved for success on the gridirion.

“I think it’s great for our fans,” Theismann said. “We’ve been mired in mediocrity for a long time, as far as not being able to find the combination we need to put wins on the field. It’s great to start a new era.

“I listened to Josh’s announcement last night, and I felt the same way everyone did. It’s time for a new era and to move on.”

Theismann recalls being at FedEx Field six weeks ago, where fans were touring suites for potential season ticket packages for the upcoming season, and even though the sale wasn’t official yet, he noticed a clear increase in excitement for a franchise that badly needs a jolt after ranking last in the league in attendance last season.

“You could feel the energy and the enthusiasm starting then,” Theismann said. “And it’s only grown since that time.”
