JUNKIES: Is Commanders' group prospect visit everything or nothing?

Jayden Daniels is the odds on favorite now to be the No. 2 pick – but does he not want to be here?

One week out from Round 1, Mike Florio and Chris Simms were expressing his displeasure at the Commanders having all the QB prospects together this week, which Mike called 'dysfunctional on the surface' and Chris called 'odd' – and JP mentioned how Bill Belichick even said on ESPN that the idea definitely was unconventional in a way, but he thinks it's a lot of overreaction.

"Belichick pointed out that a lot of decisions are kind of made, like teams by now have honed in on who they want," JP said. "So, yes, they want to meet with the guys and it might make a small difference, but they have honed in on who they're going for."

"It tells you how much stock they really put in those things: not a lot," EB replied. "They probably figure why drag this out over a month bringing in different guys every day?"

Valdez then chimed in when scheduling was brought up wondering why, with the No. 2 pick, the Commanders wouldn't 'move Heaven and Earth' to meet with guys individually?

"You probably can't meet with all these guys for a day or a weekend so you bring them all in, but the ones that you really, really like that you're gonna draft high, you spend a little bit more time with them maybe?" Bish said.

That said…well, according to one outlet stalking Dulles Airport watching the QB prospects come in, all but one hopped into Ubers to head to Ashburn, the one being Jayden Daniels – who was picked up in an SUV by both Dan Quinn and Adam Peters.

Not confirmed by anyone but one X account, but an interesting take…

"There's video of Jayden Daniels wheeling his big ass suitcase through the luggage pickup area, and then the next shot is just a photo of Dan Quinn, who looks to be loitering in an airport line," Cakes said. "There's no pic, there's no video of him getting into the vehicle with Quinn and Peters."

"It'd be hilarious if there was a picture of Adam Peters and Dan Quinn with one of those signs and it said 'Daniels,' and meanwhile JJ McCarthy and Drake and others are walking past them!" JP laughed back.

Unsubstantied reports but a big tell if it's real, even as video has surfaced that Maye and McCarthy split an Uber to go back to Dulles – and only one 'expert,' NFL.com's Daniel Jeremiah, has Maye ranked No. 2 on his board publicly, but he still thinks the Commanders are taking Daniels.

Well, EB thinks it's Maye, too, citing reports that there's evidence Daniels has apparently said he likes several teams but the Commanders are not one – like his agent retweeting the post of Florio and Simms' convo, and also liking a tweet that was very critical of the Commanders' Topgolf deal?

"I keep referring to Belichick because I respect him, and he said don't listen to anything the agents say, because the agents all want their pick to be the highest pick possible," JP said. "He might be upset that they're bringing in other guys and he wants it locked down that the Commanders are taking him at number two."

"That's interesting, and that goes against all the other evidence that I've seen that doesn't seem like Jayden Daniels is super high on coming here for whatever reason," EB replied.

There's also that whole fifth-round grade thing from way back, but here's one more thing from EB: look at the current, and most recent, Steelers' QBs.

"I think Daniels is a boom or bust guy; he's gonna be a superstar or it's gonna be ugly," EB said. "I think he's largely the same guy he was a year ago who has a lot better production to match it – kind of like Kenny Pickett. They're different players, but Kenny Pickett had three years of kind of not much, then that last year was huge, with 44 touchdowns, and he got drafted in the first round. Now he's a backup, and it turns out he's probably closer to who he was the first few years."
