Junkies react to the juxtaposition of Commanders losing FedEx's name on same day RFK Stadium bill passes

The bill that would allow DC to lease the RFK land rent-free for 99 years overwhelmingly passed the U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday and now moves to the Senate.

“This passed 348-55, and the Commanders of course are still on the honeymoon period with new ownership, and they are obligated to play at FedEx through the ‘27 season, but after that, who knows?” Bish said.

“Maybe I'm wrong, but my assumption is that if you polled Commanders fans, I think probably like 90 percent would, all things being equal, rather have it at the old site,” EB replied. “That'd be awesome: in DC, at the old site.”

But if there’s a path to the Commanders, could that detract from the city’s efforts to keep the Caps and Wizards from moving to Alexandria?

“If you read all the Washington Post articles, it seemed like Ted was a little bit hurt that Bowser seemed to focus more on the Commanders than the Wizards and Capitals,” JP said. “So he said, okay, you're asleep at the wheel and focusing on the Commanders? Let me see if I can move us to Alexandria.”

“To defend Bowser and the DC government, if you're going to choose between the NFL and a package of the NHL and NBA, you're gonna choose the NFL 100 times out of 100,” Cakes shot back.

JP argued that Cap One is already there, but Cakes thinks bringing the Commanders back into the District supersedes anything there. Of course, there’s A LOT of opposition from Virginians to the MSE move, but…

“I talked to that same person that Jason talks to a lot that works over there at Monumental when I at a game this week, and they're convinced that they're gonna move, and all that stuff's just semantics and it's all gonna be worked out,” EB said. “They're convinced.”

“The person that I think you're talking about says that they have company-wide meetings, you know, pretty much on a weekly basis, explaining everything,” Bish confirmed. “I mean, they're not just doing that to waste of their time.”

Well, why can’t the city accommodate both like some others, including Philadelphia? If RFK is slowly being torn apart, would it make sense?
