Junkies are fed up with Commanders defense: 'All reputation, no results'

The Sports Junkies opened up a “Misery Friday” by reacting to the Commanders’ 40-20 loss to the lowly Bears, and not surprisingly, the scene wasn’t pretty.

“Remember the scene from The Shining when all the blood pours out of the elevator down the hallway?” Cakes said. “That’s what happened at FedEx Field on Thursday night. What an embarrassment.”

The bulk of the frustration was geared towards Washington’s defense, which was expected to be the strength of the team this season, but so far has been a disaster under Jack Del Rio.

“No more talk about the defense,” JP said. “It’s all reputation, no result. Their defense is all reputation, no result. That defense gave up so many yards in the first half in particular…they’re giving up 32 points a game!

“There’s no excuse to let Chicago come in and shove it on you in your house to the tune of 40 points.”

The Commanders are currently giving up the second most points per game in the league, behind only the Broncos, and the unit did little to show that any improvements were being made after falling behind 27-3 in the first half, as Justin Fields and D.J. Moore picked apart Washington’s defense and never looked back.

“What happened to the pass rush?” JP said. “For the most part, especially in the first half, Justin Fields could do whatever he wanted to do.”
